Bartlett Saves Woman’s Life
March 20, 2015
The AAA Northern California ERS (Emergency Road Service) Rescuer of the Year program recognizes local road service professionals who have helped someone in urgent need. Patrick Bartlett, this year’s Rescuer of the Year, has a truly remarkable story of how he helped a woman in urgent need. One foggy night, Patrick was driving his tow truck in Fresno and saw a van turned over off the freeway. He pulled over and found a woman who was half-in and half-out of the vehicle with the windshield pillar pinning her in the vehicle. She was conscious and had been in that position for four hours. Patrick called 911, and the emergency response team arrived, but they could not get her out of the vehicle. With the consent of the CHP, Patrick hooked up his tow truck and carefully lifted the car off the woman, so they could get her out and rush her to the hospital. His recovery technique saved her life. To honor Patrick, AAA Northern California presented him with a $3,000 gift for AAA Travel and made a $10,000 donation in his name to his favorite charity, which happens to be the CHP 11-99 Foundation.
