Larry Carter has made many contributions over his career, most notably while serving as a key executive at Cisco and providing guidance and leadership to others in the Bay Area finance community. He joined Cisco in January 1995 as Vice President of Finance and Administration, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary. In July 1997, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary. Carter was elected to the Cisco Board of Directors in July 2000. In May 2003, upon his retirement as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Office of the Chairman and CEO. He retired from that position and from his employment with Cisco in November 2008. Before joining Cisco, he was employed by Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. as Vice President and Corporate Controller. Carter previously served as a director of QLogic Corporation, ending in 2008. Currently, Carter is a member of Cisco’s Board of Directors, a trustee and founder of the Cisco Foundation and a member of the CHP 11-99 Foundation Board of Directors.
The Independent Selection Panel of the Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards selected Larry Carter as the recipient of the 2011 Hall of Fame – Lifetime Achievement Award.
