California Highway Patrol Commissioner Warren Stanley announced that, effective March 1, 2020, Assistant Commissioner Amanda L. Ray will be the Department’s Deputy Commissioner. This is a historic move for the CHP as it appoints the Department’s first African American woman to this position. In a social media statement on Friday, the CHP said, “Throughout her 30-year career with the CHP, Deputy Commissioner Ray has actively engaged with the communities she serves, seeking every opportunity to participate in outreach events, and have active involvement in departmental programs to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California.”
“I am grateful to continue to serve alongside the amazing women and men who are dedicated each day to providing the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security to the people of California. I look forward to continue to make the Department one that our employees and the people of this great state can admire and be proud of,” says Deputy Commissioner Ray.
The 11-99 Foundation congratulates Deputy Commissioner Ray on her promotion! We’ve worked with her for years and this couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. We look forward to her continued leadership, guidance, and support for years to come!
